During the wedding drinks reception, as a reportage wedding photographer, i like to mingle in with the guests as much as possible to get candid, relaxed and informal shots of guests having a great time. A lot of photographers work that i see shot during this time looks as if they have attached a very long telephoto lens and captured everything from afar. I disagree with this, i like to get in amongst the action! I often will put on a wide angle lens only so that forces me to get amongst the guests. This gives a type of intimacy that is missing from using a telephoto lens. As i dress in suit and tie (like a guest) i find that this helps with me not being noticed after all the last thing i want are cheesy grins straight at the camera – anyone can shoot those!
